Company Profile

Karen Lee obtained an honours degree in sculpture at Dundee University and using this expertise worked for a number of companies recreating designs in clay and stone for major building refurbishment projects. She then joined a new garden ware company manufacturing stone ornament where she provided the original patterns and in some cases the company also used her own original designs.

Karen formed Kareldi stone in September 1999 with the intention of producing an exciting and unique collection of her own exclusive sculptural stoneware. Our aim is to introduce a range if products that offer something a little different for the garden, patio or conservatory.

Karen designs each piece as a clay model from which a mould is made containing a rubber liner that reflects the original clay model. A semi dry mix is then hand packed in to the mould and it is this process that gives each piece the beauty of a natural stone finish. All the products are 100% frost proof and as with all natural stone will age naturally over time attracting mosses and lichens. There is a choice of three colours: Sandstone, Terracotta or Portland and this variety offers the potential buyer the opportunity to obtain a product that will suit his or her own particular colour scheme.

Some of the designs are entirely original in their function such as our graceful sleeping swan that is a beautiful piece of sculpture in its own right but also offers a planting bowl in the feather area and the same is true of our Great Crested Grebe Planter. These are just two examples of our extended range of decorative bowls, troughs and square floral planters.

We offer a range of animal sculptures that include a seated lion and lioness that can be purchased as a pair or singly, original cat designs, wall pumps and many others. A range of water features is available and the appropriate pumps can be supplied to suit most applications.

Karen plans to produce at least three or four new designs each year to expand both the animal sculptures and also to extend the variety and range of water features. The latest designs can be viewed at the Kareldi Stone workshop at Moira as well as on this website.

Visitors to our workshop are most welcome during working hours but it is best to check first as the opening hours can vary from those that are advertised.
